Report: Michigan to talk to Miles

DETROIT, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- The University of Michigan has gained permission to speak to LSU Coach Les Miles about the school's coaching vacancy, it was reported Wednesday night.

The Detroit Free Press quoted LSU Assistant Athletic Director Herb Vincent as saying his school would allow Miles to speak with Michigan officials after Saturday's SEC title game against Tennessee.

Michigan is in need of a coach after Lloyd Carr retired this month. Miles graduated from Michigan 21 years ago.

The Free Press reported Miles has a $1.25 million buyout in his contract with LSU, but that it applies only to his taking a job at Michigan.
