COL BKB: North Carolina 66, Ohio St. 55

COLUMBIA, Ohio, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- A career-best 23 points from Wayne Ellington Wednesday allowed No. 1 North Carolina to rally in the second half for a 66-55 win over Ohio State.

The Tar Heels had to play without point guard Ty Lawson, who suffered an ankle injury against Brigham Young last Saturday.

Deon Thompson added 14 points and Tyler Hansbrough had 13, keeping North Carolina unbeaten in its first six games.

Ohio State had a three-point lead at halftime, but the Buckeyes missed 17 straight field goal attempts during one stretch of the second period and fell to 4-2.

Jon Diebler led Ohio State with 19 points. He hit four three-pointers during the last five minutes of the first half.

Despite going cold from the field, the Buckeyes trailed by just five with four minutes to go before Ellington hit a three-pointer.
