
CLEMSON, S.C., Nov. 28 (UPI) -- K.C. Rivers' jumper with 30 seconds left Tuesday put No. 18 Clemson ahead and Purdue missed its last shots, allowing the Tigers to escape with a 61-58 win.
Rivers wound up with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Cliff Hammonds added 12 points, six rebounds and five assists for Clemson (6-0), which played without one of their top players, James Mays, who was sidelined with a hip injury. Trevor Booker contributed seven points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Scott Martin led the Boilermakers (3-1) with 13 points, five boards and four steals. Tarrance Crump added 11 points, and Nemanja Calasan added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Boilermakers.
Purdue led 26-23 at halftime of the closely contested game, but Clemson started the second half with a 5-0 spurt but couldn't put the Boilermakers away until the final seconds.
