Lubick no longer coach at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Sonny Lubick announced Tuesday he is no longer head coach of the Colorado State football team.

Lubick, making the announcement at a news conference, said he had not decided whether or not to accept another position within the university.

Lubick had a 108-74 record in 15 seasons at Colorado State and is the school's all-time winningest coach. He directed the Rams to nine bowl games and six conference titles. However, the Rams were just 3-9 this season after Friday's 36-28 win over Wyoming.

Colorado State Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk said Monday that any discussions with Lubick about retirement have focused on the expectation Lubick would continue to play a senior leadership role in the school's sports program.

"CSU President Larry Penley has made it very clear that Sonny Lubick will always have a place at Colorado State University," Kowalczyk said. "Sonny's reputation, record and service to CSU have clearly earned that."
