CLEMSON, S.C., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Cliff Hammonds scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds Saturday, leading No. 22 Clemson's 96-67 rout of tiny Gardner-Webb.
Clemson went on an 8-0 spurt after the losers stayed within 26-22 with nine minutes left in the first half. The lead swelled to 53-36 at the half, and the rout continued in the second 20 minutes.
Trevor Booker added 15 points and seven rebounds, while reserve Terrence Oglesby scored 15 points, James Mays had 13 points and nine rebounds, and K.C. Rivers had 13 for Clemson (5-0). The Tigers sank 8 of 13 three-point attempts and shot 61.3 percent from the floor in the first half.
Clemson has won 18 straight November games since Oliver Purnell became coach in 2003.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (4-4) were led by Nate Blank's 16 points in their third straight loss. Thomas Sanders had 15 points and six rebounds, and Aaron Linn added 14 points and seven rebounds.
