Magic send Ariza to Lakers for Cook, Evans

ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 20 (UPI) -- The Orlando Magic got forward Brian Cook and guard Maurice Evans from the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday in a trade for forward Trevor Ariza.

Cook played in six games this season with the Lakers, averaging 2.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. In 259 career NBA regular season games with the Lakers Cook has averaged 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds.

Evans had 4.4 points and 1.7 assists in seven games with Los Angeles this year. In 238 career NBA regular season games -- with Minnesota, Sacramento, Detroit and the Lakers -- Evans averaged 6.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

"Brian (Cook) helps bolster our front court," said Magic General Manager Otis Smith. "He is a power forward who shoots the ball extremely well, while also bringing added toughness to our roster. Maurice (Evans) is a tremendous athlete, a solid defender and capable of playing multiple positions."

Ariza played in 11 games this season with the Magic, averaging 3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
