WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Lorena Ochoa Sunday shot 4-under-par 68 to capture the LPGA's ADT Championship in Florida by two strokes over Natalie Gulbis.
The victory in the season-ending event in West Palm Beach helped the native of Guadalajara, Mexico, earn a $1 million payday.
The final-round score determined the champion after two cuts reduced the field to eight Sunday. The players' scores were wiped out after both the second and third rounds.
Ochoa is the first player in tour history to crack the $3 million plateau in single-season earnings. The $1 million first-place check pushed her just over $4.3 million for the year.
"It was not only about the money list, but also winning eight tournaments this season," Ochoa said. "It's been amazing from the start to the end."
Gulbis, her playing partner Sunday, shot 2-under 70 to finish second, followed by Paula Creamer (72).
U.S Women's Open champion Cristie Kerr shot 2-over 74 to finish fourth.
