NHL: Detroit 5, Columbus 4 (SO)

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Johan Franzen scored the deciding goal in the fifth round of the shootout Sunday, as the Detroit Red Wings topped the Columbus Blue Jackets, 5-4.

The contest was tied, 4-4, after regulation, and the shootout was created by a scoreless overtime.

Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk scored the game-tying goal at 15:10 of the third period. It was his fourth tally this season.

Detroit's other goals were scored by Nicklas Lidstrom (power play), Tomas Holmstrom (power play) and Brett Lebda. Both Lidstrom and Brian Rafalski had two assists, while goaltender Chris Osgood stopped 36-of-40 shots as the Red Wings ended a three-game losing streak.

Columbus got one goal and two assists each from Nikolai Zherdev and Rick Nash.

Duvie Westcott (power play) and Sergei Fedorov (power play) also scored, while goalie Pascal Leclaire was beaten four times on 35 Detroit shots for the Blue Jackets, who have dropped six of their last seven games.
