British rider killed in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- A British woman who lived in Virginia died of head and chest injuries when her horse stumbled and fell on her during a jump at a show in Florida.

Eleanor Brennan, 21, of Esmont, Va., and her horse, Mister Barnabus, died Saturday at the 2007 Horse Trials at the Florida Horse Park in Ocala, reported WKMG-TV in Orlando, Fla.

The horse struck a gate, fell onto its neck and landed on Brennan, authorities said. The horse died instantly and Brennan died a short while later at a hospital, WKMG reported.

Brennan split her time between the United Kingdom and Virginia, and competed in horse shows at an international level.
