ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Chris Wells rushed for two touchdowns and a career-high 222 yards Saturday as No. 7 Ohio State downed No. 23 Michigan 14-3.
The victory gave the Buckeyes their third straight Big Ten title.
Wells carried 39 times and broke the 200-yard barrier for the second time this season. His touchdowns came on a one-yard run in the second quarter and a 62-yard scamper in the third.
Quarterback Todd Boeckman completed 7 of 13 passes for 49 yards, but the Buckeyes' defense held Michigan to just 91 total yards as OSU bounced back from last Saturday's 28-21 loss to Illinois.
Michigan's only points came on K.C. Lopata's 33-yard field goal in the first quarter.
Chad Henne, playing with a gimpy right shoulder, went 12-for-34 for 67 yards for Michigan. Mike Hart gained 40 yards on 16 attempts for the Wolverines (8-4, 6-2), who have dropped two in a row.
It may have been the final home game for Coach Lloyd Carr, who is rumored to be pondering retirement.
