HOUSTON, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Houston Rockets guard/forward Tracy McGrady, the league's leading scorer, likely will miss a week of the NBA schedule because of a sprained right elbow.

He suffered the injury about 50 seconds left in the second quarter of Wednesday night's 93-90 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. An examinarion at Memorial Hermann Hospital showed no nerve damage.

"It's just a situation I couldn't have done anything about," he told the Houston Chronicle after his relief in finding out there was no nerve damage after a collision with the Lakers' Luke Walton. "It was a freak accident. You hate for those to happen but it's part of the game. There is a lot of inflammation around my elbow, so right now it is day-to-day."

Before leaving, he shot two free throws with his left hand.

In the first nine games of the season, the 6-foot-8 inch McGrady, the NBA's leading scorer, has game averages of 26.8 points, five rebounds and five assists.
