Dolphins allow Williams back in uniform

MIAMI, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- The Miami Dolphins reportedly made a quick decision Thursday to allow running back Ricky Williams back on the team.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Wednesday that Williams would be reinstated to the league after serving a suspension that lasted a year and a half. Williams was booted out of the league for violations of the NFL's drug policy and wound up playing in Canada during the 2006 season.

The Miami Herald reported Thursday that after Williams met with Coach Cam Cameron, the Dolphins decided to allow the former Heisman Trophy winner back in uniform. The report said Williams will begin practicing next Monday, although it is not known whether he will play against the Pittsburgh Steelers Nov. 26 -- which would be the first game in which he is eligible to compete.

Miami has yet to win a game this year and have been playing without injured running back Ronnie Brown.
