PITTSBURGH, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Ryan Clark and tight end Jerame Tuman were placed on injured reserve and are out for the season, the team announced Wednesday.

Clark was sidelined with an inflamed spleen. Tuman has a back injury.

The Steelers filled the vacancies with center Marvin Philip and cornerback Grant Mason, both promoted from the practice squad.

The 6-1, 207-pound Philip was a sixth-round draft pick by the Steelers in 2006 but hasn't played. Mason, 6-feet, 192 pounds, signed as a free agent this year. He had been an undrafted rookie with the New Orleans Saints.
