COLUMBIA, S.C., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Tim Tebow ran for a career-best five TDs and threw for two scores Saturday night, as No. 18 Florida beat South Carolina, 51-31.
Tebow connected on 22-of-32 passes for 304 yards and picked up 120 yards rushing on 26 carries -- picking much of the slack created by the absence of Gators' running back Percy Harvin, who missed the game because of a sinus infection and migraine headaches.
Andre Caldwell caught 11 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown, as Florida (7-3, 5-3 SEC) remained in the race with Tennessee and Georgia for a spot in the SEC title game.
Blake Mitchell was 26-of-42 passing for 316 yards, but also turned the ball over twice, as South Carolina (6-5, 3-5) lost its fourth straight.
Cory Boyd scored three rushing touchdowns and Kenny McKinley had seven catches for 95 yards for the Gamecocks.
