Jordan's son hits the court

CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Hoop legend Michael Jordan's son Jeff will hit the court at the University of Illinois, armed with his dad's advice: Be your own person.

"The thing that we have tried to tell Jeff is that you set your own expectations, you know?" Michael Jordan told NBC's Today show. "And if you're happy, that's all that matters. You're never going to make everybody happy."

Freshman Jeff Jordan is player No. 13 on the Big Ten team. At 6-foot-1, the 18-year-old is 5 inches shorter than his six-time NBA champ dad, People magazine said.

"He wants to be a basketball player, but he wants to do it on his own terms, which is all cool for me," Michael Jordan said.

Illinois opens its 103rd season of basketball Sunday.
