
EUGENE, Ore., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Bryce Taylor scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures Saturday afternoon, as 13th-ranked Oregon routed Pepperdine, 100-70.
The season-opening men's college basketball contest for both schools was their fifth all-time match-up, with Oregon improving to 4-1 in the series.
The game was part of the World Vision Basketball Invitational Tournament at Eugene, Ore.
Oregon, which had nine different players in the scoring column, basically settled the issue by sprinting out to a 53-23 halftime lead.
Malik Hairston and Tajuan Porter scored 17 points apiece, LeKendric Longmire had 14 points and three rebounds, and Maarty Leunen had nine points and nine rebounds for the Ducks (1-0), who return six of their top seven players from last season.
Pepperdine was led by Malcolm Thomas' 22 points and six rebounds. Tyrone Shelly had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Daniel Johnson scored 11 points for the Waves (0-1).
Pepperdine shot just 32.8 percent from the floor.
