
WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Roy Hibbert had 23 points and eight rebounds Saturday as fifth-ranked Georgetown recorded a season-opening 68-53 victory over William & Mary.
The winners led only 35-30 at the half and just 47-45 with 10:31 remaining.
A short jumper by the 7-foot-2 Hibbert started a 21-8 game-ending spurt.
Georgetown's Jessie Sapp had 18 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Senior guard Jonathan Wallace, making his 103rd straight start, had 15 points and four assists, while DaJuan Summers added 10 points and six rebounds for the Hoyas (1-0), who were stunned 75-62 by Old Dominion in their home-opener last season.
The Indians (0-1), who grabbed a quick 5-0 lead, got 16 points from Laimis Kisielius, all in the first half.
David Schneider had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists, and point guard Nathan Mann had eight points and seven assists as the Indians (0-1) suffered their 29th straight loss against a ranked opponent.
