SEMMES, Ala., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Paula Creamer Thursday shared the lead with Meg Mallon after one round of the LPGA’s Tournament of Champions at Semmes, Ala.
Creamer birdied her final seven holes to grab a piece of the lead.
Both players shot 5-under 67 and lead a quintet -- Suzann Pettersen, Mi Hyun Kim, Seon Hwa Lee, Pat Hurst and Natalie Gulbis – by two strokes.
The latter group shot 3-under 69.
"I've been coming off some good golf and then come into a golf course that I played well it's always a nice feeling," Creamer said about the Magnolia Grove Crossings Course in suburban Mobile.
She started slowly with six straight pars and two bogeys before her solid finish.
Former World No. 1 Annika Sorenstam was among six players tied for 10th place at 1-under 71.
Defending champion Lorena Ochoa opened with a 2-over 74 to join three others in a tie for 22nd place.
