Brad Lidge dealt to Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Brad Lidge, once one of the best closers in baseball, was dealt Wednesday by the Houston Astros to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Infielder Eric Bruntlett also went to Philadelphia in exchange for outfielder Michael Bourn, right-handed reliever Geoff Geary and minor-league third baseman Mike Costanzo.

Lidge briefly lost his job as closer for the Astros last year. He went 5-3 with 19 saves and a 3.36 ERA during the season in which he turned 30.

He could battle for the closer job in Philadelphia or simply be a bullpen addition. He has 123 career saves.
