PARIS, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- David Nalbandian Sunday trounced Rafael Nadal, 6-4, 6-0, in the final of the men’s Paris Masters Tennis Tournament.
The native of Argentina became a giant-killer in this tournament after also downing No. 1 seed Roger Federer in Thursday’s third round.
While beating the second-seeded Nadal, he earned his second title of 2007, the seventh of his career, and became the third player in ATP history to beat the world’s top three players in the same event, joining Boris Becker in 1994, and No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic, who he beat in Saturday’s semifinals.
"I never thought that I can win Madrid and Paris like the way I do it," he said. "But I feel that I play very good from the last Sunday, not just today. All the week I was playing great, and I don’t know why the result was so easy."
Nalbandian earned $491,412 for his win, while Nadal was denied his seventh title this season.
