
DALLAS, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Josh Howard had 27 points and seven rebounds Saturday night, as the Dallas Mavericks trounced Sacramento, 123-102.
Dallas led, 37-25, going into the second quarter and was barely threatened in the final three periods.
Jose Barea, subbing for usual starting point guard Devin Harris -- a pre-game scratch after a collision Friday night at Atlanta -- had a career-high 25 points and five assists.
Dirk Nowitzki had 24 points and seven assists, while reserves Jason Terry and Brandon Bass added 16 and 11 points, respectively, as the Mavericks won their home opener following a 101-94 loss to the Hawks.
Sacramento got 28 points and six rebounds from Kevin Martin. John Salmons had 27 points and four assists, while Francisco Garcia -- playing in place of the injured Mike Bibby -- had 23 points and six assists for the Kings, who fell to 0-3 despite shooting 50 percent from the floor.
