Cabrera leads halfway through Barclays

SINGAPORE, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Angel Cabrera fired an eight-under-par 63 Friday to build a two-stroke lead after two rounds of the $4 million Barclay’s Singapore Open golf tournament.

Cabrera, who shot even par in his first round, was at eight-under 134 halfway through the event. Jin Park, who had a one-under 70 Friday, was in second at seven-under for 36 holes. Two-time defending champion Adam Scott turned in a four-under 67 Friday and is in third at minus-five 137.

The report of lightning in the area caused play to be suspended with several players on the course. They are to complete their second rounds Saturday before the cut is announced and third-round play begins

Cabrera, starting on the back nine Friday, was one-under for the day going into No. 17. His game came together at that point and he posted seven birdies and four pars the rest of the way.

"I stroked the ball very solidly, especially on the back nine,” Cabrera said. “I didn't hole out from long distances, just from makeable distances."
