DALLAS, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Jason Williams scored two third-period goals Wednesday, rallying Chicago past Dallas 5-4 and spoiling a milestone for the Stars' Mike Modano.
Modano's assist on a goal by Sergei Zubov midway through the third period gave Dallas a 4-3 lead. It gave him 1,232 points in his career, tying Phil Housley for the most ever by an American-born player. Modano already holds the record for most goals by a player born in the United States with 509.
Williams, however, tied the game with 7:11 remaining on a tip-in and then beat Mike Smith with a slap shot only 21 seconds from the end of the game. Smith replaced Marty Turco in goal after Turco allowed three goals on 21 shots.
Dallas rallied from a 3-1 deficit with three goals in the first half of the final period. Philippe Boucher scored just 40 seconds into the period and Niklas Hagman tied it shorthanded less than five minutes later.
Chicago had not beaten Dallas on the Stars' ice since March 2001, having lost nine times with one tie since then.
