FRISCO, Texas, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Clarence Goodson scored in the 23rd minute Saturday night, as FC Dallas beat reigning MLS Cup champion Houston, 1-0. The contest, the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinals, was played at Frisco, Texas.

It was Goodson's second straight playoff goal for the Hoops. He scored in extra time against Colorado in last season's second leg of the West Semifinals, a match the Hoops lost, 3-2.

Houston's best scoring chance came in the 42nd minute when Brian Mullan could not convert on a header, which went just to the left of the FCD goal.

Game 2 of the series is at Houston Friday night.

Houston can advance to the conference final with another victory.
