NHL: Montreal 4, Pittsburgh 3 (SO)

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Andrei Markov scored in the eighth round of a shoot-out Saturday night, as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-3.

The contest was tied, 3-3, after the third period, with Pittsburgh's Ryan Whitney scoring on the power play with about two minutes left.

Markov also scored in the first period on the power play.

Mathieu Dandenault and Michael Ryder scored once each, while goaltender Carey Price gave up three goals on 23 shots, as the Canadiens got their fourth straight victory.

Pittsburgh also got one goal apiece from Petr Sykora (power play in the second) and Sidney Crosby.

Goalies Marc-Andre Fleury and Dany Sabourin combined to give up three goals on 28 shots, with Sabourin stopping all 13 shots he faced.

The Penguins have dropped two straight.

On the power play, Pittsburgh went 2-for-4 and Montreal went 1-for-7.
