AUBURN, Ala., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Brandon Cox completed 16-of-26 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown Saturday afternoon, as the 23rd-ranked Auburn Tigers beat Mississippi, 17-3.
Brad Lester rushed for 96 yards and a TD for Auburn (6-3, 4-2). Rodgeriqus Smith caught eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown against Ole Miss.
Seth Adams completed 11-of-24 passes for 89 yards for Ole Miss (2-7, 0-6), which has lost three straight. BJ Green-Ellis rushed for 62 yards.
Auburn scored the lone first-quarter points with 2:41 left in the period. Joshua Shene kicked a 51-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to make the score 7-3 at halftime, and the Tigers wrapped up the scoring with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Cox to Smith with 3:15 left in the game.
