Gicquel again reaches Lyon semis

LYON, France, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Marc Gicquel Friday advanced to the semifinals at the Lyon Grand Prix, one year after losing in the tournament's championship match.

Gicquel battled past Diego Hartfield, 7-5, 6-3, in a day of entertaining quarterfinal match-ups. He will face qualifier Alejandro Falla in the semifinals, after Falla out-lasted 2001 winner Ivan Ljubicic, 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 7-5.

The other semifinal will send Sebastien Grosjean against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

In a match that took two hours, 34 minutes, Grosjean survived against Julien Benneteau, 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

Tsonga was a 6-3, 6-2, winner over Olivier Rochus.
