MALLORCA, Spain, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Robert-Jan Derksen and Jean-Francois Lucquin each shot five-under 65 to tie for the lead after two days of the Mallorca Classic golf tournament in Spain.
Friday’s second round was suspended because of darkness. The round started late because the field needed to complete the first round, which was halted Thursday by thunderstorms.
Derksen and Lucquin are at nine-under-par 131 after 36 holes and own a three-shot advantage over both Peter Lawrie and Mads Vibe-Hastrup. Defending champion Niclas Fasth, who led after the completed first round, was in a group tied for fifth.
Derksen, who played the back nine first in the second round, made the turn in one-under despite two bogeys but knocked in back-to-back birdies on Nos. 2 and 3 and then on 7 and 8 for his share of the lead.
Lucquin played bogey-free golf and caught Derksen with birdies at 2 and 5 and closed fast with three birdies in his final five holes.
