NASHVILLE, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Dan Ellis made 20 saves to record a shutout in only his second NHL start Thursday night, as the Nashville Predators downed Atlanta, 3-0.

Nashville halted a six-game losing streak, thanks in part to a goal and an assist from Jordin Tootoo. Jerred Smithson and Scott Nichol also scored for the Predators.

Atlanta has gone 2-2 since Coach Bob Hartley was dismissed.

The Predators had gone without a goal for 150 minutes, 27 seconds, before Smithson scored on a rebound at 12:51 of the first. It was their first goal since the second period of a 3-1 loss to Anaheim Oct. 17.
