NFL: Tennessee 38, Houston 36

HOUSTON, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- An NFL record eighth field goal by Rod Bironas -- a 29-yarder as the clock ran out Sunday -- lifted the Tennessee Titans past Houston 38-36.

The Texans racked up 29 points in the fourth quarter to get within 36-35 to set up Bironas' game-winner.

Bironas hit field goals from 52, 25, 21, 30, 28 and two from 29 yards to break the previous record shared by Jim Bakken, Rich Karlis, Billy Cundiff and Chris Boniol.

Kerry Collins, playing in place of Vince Young, completed 25 of 42 passes for 280 yards for the Titans.

Backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels threw for 290 yards and four touchdowns for Houston (3-4) but also had four turnovers.
