NFL: Detroit 23, Tampa Bay 16

DETROIT, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Wide receiver Calvin Johnson scored a 32-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter Sunday as the Detroit Lions triumphed over the Buccaneers 23-16.

Jon Kitna completed 16 of 20 passes for 147 yards for Detroit (4-2), which controlled the ball for just 24 minutes.

Kevin Jones rushed 15 times for 76 yards and a touchdown for the Lions and also caught six passes for 34 yards. Johnson finished with two catches for 37 yards.

Jason Hanson kicked three field goals in the winning Detroit effort.

For Tampa Bay, quarterback Jeff Garcia completed 37 of 45 pass attempts for 316 yards, including a franchise record-tying 18 in a row in the first half.

The Buccaneers (4-3) were assessed seven penalties for 60 yards.
