Ward leads NHL's weekly stars

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Carolina goaltender Cam Ward, Buffalo defenseman Brian Campbell and Detroit forward Henrik Zetterberg were named the NHL players of the week, the league said.

0 on the week and had a goals against average of 1.67 as the Hurricanes won three games on the road. He had 27 saves in games against Toronto and Ottawa and added a 23-save effort against Montreal. He is 4
1 on the season.

Campbell had a goal and six assists in helping the Sabres to two wins last week. He had his goal and two assists in a 6-0 Buffalo won over Atlanta and added four assists in a 7-3 victory over Washington. His nine points on the year leads all NHL defensemen.

Zetterberg also piled up seven points last week while the Red Wings won three of their four games. He had at least one point in each game and capped the week with a goal and two assists against Los Angeles. Zetterberg leads all NHL scorers with 12 points -- four goals and eight assists -- this season.
