COL FB: Ariz. State 44, Washington 20

TEMPE, Ariz., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Rudy Carpenter threw two touchdown passes and Keegan Herring added a 76-yard scoring run Saturday night, as No. 13 Arizona State belted Washington, 44-20.

Carpenter completed 20-of-31 passes for 226 yards with one interception, and Herring gained 115 yards on nine carries, as the Sun Devils (7-0, 4-0 Pac-10) continued their best start since going 11-0 in 1996.

Dmitri Nance gained 92 yards on 13 carries, including a 57-yard scoring run, and Chris McGaha had five catches for 73 yards.

Washington quarterback Jake Locker went 10-for-28 with one touchdown, one interception, and 142 yards.

He added one touchdown on 12 rushing attempts for 46 yards, as the Huskies (2-4, 0-3) suffered their fourth loss in a row.
