Djokovic reaches Vienna quarterfinals

VIENNA, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Novak Djokovic reached the quarterfinals at the BA-CA Tennis Trophy in Vienna Thursday with a 6-4, 6-4, victory over Tomas Zib.

Djokovic is seeking the seventh victory of his career, having put together an outstanding season that included an appearance in the finals of the U.S. Open, where he lost to Roger Federer.

Juan Ignacio Chela also advanced by defeating Jurgen Melzer, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. David Nalbandian won his second-round match over Stanislas Wawrinka, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2, and Feliciano Lopez was a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, winner over Stefan Koubek.

Djokovic won his sixth career title this year in Montreal, where he became only the second player to defeat the top three players in the ATP rankings in the same event. He ousted Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal and Federer in that tournament.
