NHL: Ottawa 4, New Jersey 2

OTTAWA, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Daniel Alfredsson had a goal and two assists Monday as the unbeaten Ottawa Senators defeated the New Jersey Devils, 4-2.

Dany Heatley added a goal and an assist and Jason Spezza added three assists for the Senators, who have begun the season with four straight wins.

Goaltender Martin Gerber had 27 saves for Ottawa.

Zach Parise had a goal and an assist for the Devils, who lost to Ottawa in last year's Eastern Conference finals in five games. New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur had 33 saves.

Ottawa outshot New Jersey 17-9 in the opening period and jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
