TORONTO, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Toronto capitalized on an own goal by Chris Leitch Thursday night to end a 12-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory over New York.

Toronto had not won since July 4 and the victory was only its sixth of the season.

Maurice Edu scored in the 18th minute as Toronto took the lead on a foggy night and Leitch put the ball in his own net in the 66th minute while trying to clear a pass.

Dane Richards scored for New York in the 75th minute, but the Red Bulls were unable to wrap up the playoff berth that a victory would have given them.

New York has 39 points and is in fifth place in the race for the eight MLS post-season spots.
