Tommie Harris' wife dies

OTTAWA, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Daniel Alfreddson scored at the 15:01 mark in the third period Thursday night as Ottawa beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-2.
When Alfreddsson scored his game-winner, the score was tied, 2-2.
His second goal of the contest came after assists by Jason Spezza and Wade Redden.
Ottawa's Dany Heatley scored his third goal of the new season at 13:06 of the second.
Spezza had two assists, and goaltender Martin Gerber stopped 41 of 43 Toronto shots as the Senators won their second in a row to start the new season.
Toronto's Mats Sundin and Matt Stajan scored one apiece.
Maple Leafs goalie Vesa Toskala made 26 saves on 29 shots.
