Memphis football player shot to death

MEMPHIS, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- University of Memphis football player Taylor Bradford was shot to death Sunday night on the school's campus.

Bradford, 21, was shot in a parking lot. It was reported Bradford got in his car but soon crashed into a tree. He was taken to a hospital in Memphis where he died.

Memphis officials canceled classes Monday and put the campus on lock-down.

"Our entire football team is deeply saddened by the loss of Taylor," said Coach Tommy West. "He was well respected and a popular member of our team."

Bradford, a junior transfer defensive lineman from Samford University, had not played this season for the Tigers.
