KANSAS CITY, Kan., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Greg Biffle beat Clint Bowyer to win Sunday's LifeLock 400 Nextel Cup race at Kansas City, Kan., the third event of the 10-race "Chase for the Nextel Cup."
The victory was Biffle's first this season and 12th of his "Cup" career.
With 27 laps left after a caution flag, Biffle and Jeff Harvick had enough fuel to reach the checkered flag, with Biffle taking the checkered flag at the end.
Tony Stewart was third, almost two seconds behind the lead pair.
"I'm just excited to get a win this season," Biffle said.
Jimmie Johnson, Casey Mears and Jeff Gordon completed the top-five.
NASCAR officials announced that because of darkness, there would not be a green-white-checker finish.
The race finished under caution and Biffle coasted across the finish line for his first win of 2007.
