SEOUL, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Venus Williams had little trouble Thursday qualifying for the quarterfinals of the $145,000 Korea Open in Seoul.
Williams posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Tamarine Tanasugarn and is matched in Friday's quarterfinals against qualifier Marta Domachowska, who was a 7-5, 6-2 second-round winner Thursday over Severine Bremond.
Agnes Szavay, seeded second a week after collecting a tournament title in Beijing, also made it to the quarterfinals, eliminating Galina Voskoboeva 6-1, 6-4 in the second round. The draw has Szavay next playing fifth-seeded and defending Seoul champion Eleni Daniilidou, who won Thursday 6-3, 6-2 over Ahsha Rolle.
Fourth-seeded Maria Kirilenko, also coming off a tournament win last week, beat Meng Yuan 6-4, 6-2 and meets Catalina Castano on Friday.
Ayumi Morita and Flavia Pennetta are paired in the other quarterfinal, having won second-round matches Wednesday.
