HOUSTON, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Joseph Addai’s two touchdown runs and 273 yards passing from Peyton Manning carried the Indianapolis Colts past the Houston Texans, 30-24, Sunday.
The Texans (2-1) had not allowed a rushing touchdown in almost 310 minutes, dating back to last Dec.17.
Addai scored on a four-yard run in the second quarter and an eight-yard run in the third. His run over right tackle with 8:46 to play in the second quarter made it 14-10 and put the Colts ahead to stay.
Manning was 20-of-29 passing, including a 2-yard TD toss to Dallas Clark in the first quarter to tie the game 7-7, after Houston’s Jerome Mathis had returned the opening kickoff 84 yards for a score.
Adam Vinatieri kicked three field goals of 36, 28 and 35 yards.
Matt Schaub completed 27-of-33 passes for 236 yards while Samkon Gado ran for a 1-yard TD early in the fourth quarter.
Houston (2-1) netted only 40 yards rushing.
