
CHICAGO, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Derek Lee had two hits, including a two-run homer in the sixth inning Sunday, as the Chicago Cubs blasted Pittsburgh, 8-0, for a three-game sweep.
The victory gave the Cubs a 3 ½-game lead over Milwaukee in the NL Central Division, as the Brewers lost to Atlanta, 7-4.
Chicago’s Ronny Cedeno also had three RBI, including a two-run homer in the seventh. He and Matt Murton had three hits each, while Lee was one of three players with two hits, as the Cubs won their fourth game in a row.
Winner Carlos Zambrano (17-13) gave up three hits in six scoreless innings, with three walks and six strikeouts.
Three players had one hit each for the Pirates, who suffered their ninth straight loss.
Losing pitcher Tom Gorzelanny (14-9) gave up six earned runs and 12 hits in 5 2/3 innings, with two walks and seven strikeouts.
