VERONA, N.Y., Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Steve Flesch shot only a 1-over-par 73 Sunday afternoon, but that was good enough for him to win the PGA’s Turning Stone Resort Championship at Verona, N.Y.

Flesch, who had a four-shot advantage after Saturday's third round, beat Michael Allen (68) by two strokes to get his second title this season. His final total was 18-under 270, and Allen ended at 16-under 272.

"I've learned to be more patient and believe in myself more than I did," Flesch said. "The last six weeks have been fantastic (and) I'm thrilled to death."

Flesch started the tournament as the 70th-ranked player in the world, but this title -- worth $1.08 million -- will put him in the top 30 when the latest rankings are released Monday.

John Senden (67) and John Mallinger (68) tied for third at 15-under 273, and there was a five-way tie for fifth place.
