MIAMI, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Paul Lo Duca had four hits Friday night and the New York Mets capitalized on six Florida errors to defeat the Marlins, 9-6.
New York won for just the second time in eight games in a contest that was delayed for two hours in the sixth inning by rain.
The Mets maintained a 1 1/2-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East.
New York overcame a 3-0 deficit by scoring eight unearned runs in a three-inning span beginning with the third. The only earned run the Mets produced came on a seventh-inning homer by Carlos Delgado.
Florida committed three errors in New York's three-run third, one error in a three-run fourth and another miscue in a two-run fifth.
Starter Pedro Martinez (3-0) got the win, allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings.
Scott Schoeneweis recorded the final four outs to pick up his first save of the season.
Scott Olsen (9-15) was betrayed by his defense as he allowed the eight unearned runs.
