COL FB: LSU 28, South Carolina 16

BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Jacob Hester rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown Saturday as No. 2 LSU posted a 28-16 victory over 14th-ranked South Carolina.

Matt Flynn completed 9-of-18 passes for 70 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and Trindon Holliday had six carries for 73 yards and a score for the Tigers (4-0, 1-0 SEC).

Chris Smelley was 12-for-26 for 174 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1 SEC).

LSU led, 21-7, at halftime and stopped South Carolina on fourth down in the third quarter en route to a 28-7 lead.
