Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

DETROIT, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Brandon Inge put Detroit in front with a two-run single in the sixth Friday night and the Tigers fought off Kansas City, 5-4.
Detroit overcame a four-run deficit with the help of a three-run homer by Sean Casey.
The Royals roughed up Detroit starter Jair Jurrjens for four runs in 2 1/3 innings, but Tim Byrdak (2-0) came on to throw four innings of scoreless relief to get the victory.
Todd Jones pitched the ninth for his 38th save.
Leo Nunez (2-4) took the loss, giving up two unearned runs out of the bullpen.
Casey's homer in the fifth brought the Tigers within 4-3, and Inge delivered the go-ahead hit one inning later.
