ATLANTA, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Chuck James and two relievers combined on a three-hitter Wednesday night as the Atlanta Braves beat Florida, 5-1, finishing a three-game sweep.
Edgar Renteria hit a solo homer with one out, and Mark Teixeira belted a two-run shot with two outs in the first inning. Teixeira’s homer extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
Renteria had three hits, Chipper Jones had two hits and one RBI, and Andruw Jones added one RBI in the eighth with his 28th homer, as the Braves won for the fourth time in their last five games.
James (11-10) yielded two hits in seven scoreless innings with a walk and six strikeouts.
Peter Moylan and Rafael Soriano mopped up.
Florida's lone run came in the ninth when Soriano served up Dan Uggla's 30th homer of the season.
Two others had one hit for the Marlins, who have dropped four in a row.
Losing pitcher Daniel Barone (1-3) gave up four earned runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
