Hantuchova wins at Sunfeast Open tennis

KOLKATA, India, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Second-seeded Daniela Hantuchova was an easy straight-set winner Wednesday in first-round play of the $175,000 Sunfeast Open tennis tournament in India.

Hantuchova claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Marta Domachowska in her first match of the tournament and moved up the bracket to a match against Anastassia Rodionova.

No. 4-seeded Maria Kirilenko earned a spot in the tournament quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-4 second-round victory over Ekaterina Ivanova. Other second-round winners Wednesday were No. 8-seeded Yung-Jan Chan, who easily handled Jarmila Gajdosova, 6-1, 6-2; and Tzipora Obziler, who rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Casey Dellacqua.

In first-round action, seventh-seeded Flavia Pennetta beat Tara Iyer, 6-3, 6-1; Mariya Koryttseva defeated Monique Adamczak, 6-3, 6-3; and Anne Keothavong won, 6-4, 6-4, over Sara Errani.

The tournament continues through Sunday when the Sunfeast Open champion will collect a check for $25,855.
