Robredo, Gonzalez reach China Open final

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Tommy Robredo and Fernando Gonzalez will meet in Sunday's final at the $500,000 China Open.

Spain's Robredo defeated German Nicolas Kiefer in a first-set tiebreak, and then obtained a key break in the second set to post a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5, victory.

Gonzalez dropped the first set in his semifinals to fourth-seeded Ivan Ljubicic before rallying for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, victory.

Both Gonzalez and Ljubicic were coming off three-set victories in the quarterfinals -- with Gonzalez beating sixth-seeded Korean Hyung-Taik Lee, 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4), and Ljubicic beating fifth-seeded and defending champion Marcos Baghdatis, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5).
