FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Pat Noonan scored twice and Steve Ralston had a goal and two assists Saturday, as the New England Revolution beat Dallas FC, 4-2, in Major League Soccer play.
Noonan opened the scoring in the 29th minute, but Carlos Ruiz tied it for Dallas five minutes later.
Noonan put the Revolution back up by a goal with his seventh goal of the season in the 65th minute. Ralston's third goal of the season in the 78th turned out to be decisive -- putting New England up, 3-1.
Ruiz made it 3-2 in the 84th minute with his second goal of the night, but Khano Smith put the game out of reach with a scoring strike in 90th minute -- his first goal of the season.
New England extended its lead to eight points over third-place New York in the East, and closed to within four points of first-place D.C. United.
The Revs can clinch a playoff spot with a Colorado loss to CD Chivas USA Sunday.
FC Dallas hangs on to third place in the West, 11 points ahead of fourth-place Colorado and four points behind first-place Chivas USA.
New England is at Red Bull New York Saturday, while Dallas is at home vs. Chicago Thursday.
